Sustainability Statement

Since inception in 2017, Eco Benchtops has pioneered the development of sustainable benchtops in Australia.

We were the first company in Australia to introduce recycled glass as the main raw material, setting a new standard for eco-friendly surfaces in the industry.

Our sustainable benchtops are:

  • Safe – Free from deadly respirable crystalline silica, which has caused much harm to Australian workers and has recently been banned by the Australian Government. Our commitment to health extends to ensuring all our employees work in a safe, hazard-free environment.
  • Sustainable – Containing over 80% glass, recycled from local waste collection centres, avoiding 800 bottles going to landfill with each benchtop. Additionally, our products are transported on re-used timber frames, minimising waste and eliminating the need for artificial packaging.
  • Energy efficient – Recycled glass requires low temperatures in the manufacturing process, providing excellent energy efficiency. This approach not only reduces our carbon footprint but also supports Australia’s broader environmental goals.

Our factory, based in Melbourne, is efficient with a small footprint and employs local people from a diverse range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. We prioritise their safety and well-being above all else, fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.

We are committed to continually enhancing our sustainability credentials and performance, ensuring that our practices positively impact both the environment and our community.
